Art Appreciation For Schools
The Art Outreach Programme seeks to bring art education to every school in Singapore and thereby to:
| · |
Promote aesthetics |
| · |
Instill art appreciation |
| · |
Promote art criticism
|
| · |
Foster an awareness in Asian and Western Art History |
| · |
Raise awareness of Art from a young age |
| · |
Inspire art production |
|
How it works
Our volunteers are trained every month in an
art topic to be presented to schools. Our volunteer teacher is given
a class which they will visit no more than 12 times during the course
of the year. The goals is that each class be exposed consistently
throughout the year to the programme and that presentations of portfolios
are NOT a one-off experience.
Each volunteer will visit the school every month at the agreed
time to present the portfolio to the students. The portfolios and their contents are
then discussed in an interactive, informal way, to stimulate the students' interest in
the topic, to inspire additional research, and even creative use of the topics.
Once schools are registered with us, they have a choice to assign any one
level of their classes to receive art presentations. Classes on this level then receive it every month
until the next year, at which time the next year's classes of the same level are then scheduled to
receive the presentations. This way, we try to ensure that most students will receive the programe
at some stage during their school life.

schools here.

helping people in the community while giving employees a chance to shine and benefiting the company in numerous ways.

Art Appreciation
for the Community
Art Outreach recently extended our reach beyond schools. The programme is now benefiting children from voluntary welfare organizations (VWOs)
such as Children's Aid Society.
